Haruna Danjuma The national president of the Parents-Teachers Association of Nigeria, Haruna Danjuma, has described the Federal Government’s 2026 target for a full transition to Computer-Based Testing in West African Examinations Council or National Examination Council examinations as unrealistic and impractical. It would be recalled that the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, had in April mandated the WAEC and the NECO to fully transition to CBT by May/June 2026. Alausa had stated that the rollout would begin with objective papers in November 2024, before full implementation—covering both objective and essay sections—by 2026. Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello Bello, in the letter he wrote through his team of lawyers led by Abdulwahab Mohammed, claimed that only the Kogi High Court in Lokoja has the territorial jurisdiction to preside over the allegations that were brought against him. Adeola Adedipe, one of the lawyers in Bello’s team, told the court about the letter. Police arrest suspects of Ekiti killings

The Ekiti State Police Command on Wednesday paraded three suspects who are allegedly responsible for the recent killings in Ado-Ekiti. It said three other suspects are currently at large. According to the police, the suspects, including one Aluko Olamide a.k.a Sanda, Atewogboye Olumide and Salawudeen Lookman, were arrested at various locations in Ado Ekiti after the men of Rapid Response Squad activated a full-scale manhunt to arrest the perpetrators of the killings. The three suspects are said to be members of rival cult groups, especially the Aiye. Recall that gunmen on Okada had last week shot a Point of Sale (POS) agent, popularly called Alfa, along the Teaching Hospital area of Ado Ekiti, just as a middle-aged man identified as Samuel Omoyajowo was allegedly shot dead around Okesa Roundabout near Governor’s office in Ado Ekiti. Cleaner bags life jail for sexually assaulting baby in church

The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday sentenced a 27-year-old cleaner, Saviour Udoh, to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl on a church premises. Justice Ramon Oshodi held that the prosecution was able to prove the offence of defilement against the convict without reasonable doubt, stating that the defendant’s action was reprehensible and deserving of the maximum punishment under the law. Udoh was arraigned on February 5, 2020, on a count of sexual assault by penetration preferred against him by the state, to which he pleaded not guilty. According to the prosecution counsel, I.D. Solarin, the offence committed by Udoh contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The court heard that the incident occurred on December 12, 2018, on the premises of a prominent Pentecostal church in Ikeja, Lagos.
