Ondo State High Court Cancels Creation of New LCDAs

Akure, Ondo State - In a major development, the Ondo State High Court has nullified the creation of new Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) within the state.

The ruling, issued today, cancels the entire process that established these new council areas. Details surrounding the specific reasoning behind the decision are still emerging.

However, speculation suggests the judge may have taken issue with the way the LCDAs were created. Governor Akeredolu reportedly signed the bill establishing the LCDAs in Ibadan, Oyo State, rather than within Ondo State itself. This move sparked controversy at the time, and it appears the court may have deemed it a violation of protocol.

Governor Akeredolu had been receiving medical treatment in Germany and returned to Nigeria, but instead of resuming his duties in the state capital, Akure, he began working from his residence in Ibadan.

This situation has left many questioning the legality of the LCDAs' creation process. Today's court ruling effectively dissolves these new council areas, rendering them invalid.
