 The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, who was absent for his scheduled arraignment and plea bargain, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, Thursday, wrote the court a letter that he would prefer to be tried in his state. Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello Bello, in the letter he wrote through his team of lawyers led by Abdulwahab Mohammed, claimed that only the Kogi High Court in Lokoja has the territorial jurisdiction to preside over the allegations that were brought against him. Adeola Adedipe, one of the lawyers in Bello’s team, told the court about the letter. JUST IN: Nigeria’s public debt rose by N24.33tn in three months – DMO

  Nigeria’s total public debt has reached N121.67tn, increasing by N24.33tn or 24.99 per cent within three months, the Debt Management Office has announced. This new figure is from a total debt of N97.34tn (108.23bn) as of December 2023. The Debt Management Office disclosed the new figure in a press release on Thursday in Abuja. The Public Debt, comprise of Total Domestic and External Debts of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the thirty-six state governments, and the Federal Capital Territory. The report read, “Nigeria’s total public debt stood at N121.67 trillion (USD91.46 billion) as of March 31, 2024. The comparative figure for December 31, 2023, was N97.34 trillion (USD108.23 billion). Another person killed at Oja Bisi this Afternoon Barely five hours after a  POS operator was killed in Ekiti,  A trader has again been gun down in Oja Bisi Area of Ado Ekiti. G*nmen this afternoon shot and killed an aboki man selling rice and beans at Oja Bisi It was reported that he was hawking when the killers came on a bike and fired at him. This is barely some hours after a popular pos man was killed adjacent to the gate of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti. Also, another person was shot yesterday night at Ori Apata,  It is not clear whether the killers are same group.   Gunmen K!!l Popular PoS Operator in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State Capital. Report reaching says, gunmen in the early hours of Thursday shot and killed a Point of Sale agent popularly known as Alfa. This is coming barely 48hrs after a union executive of commercial motorcyclists was killed also in broad daylight. The incident happened at the shop of the victim which is located adjacent the gate of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti. Alfa is well known in the area with the display of bread on his vehicle and always available with cash. According to reports, the gunmen who came on a motorbike shot at Alfa and made away with his money and other valuables.One person who was transacting with him when the incident happened was said to have also sustained injury. Though, police is yet to confirm the incident, the body of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue.

The ‘Rodo’ hitmaker disclosed that he was “attacked and abused” on social media after revealing his identity. During a recent interview with CNN, Adekunle Gold said he wanted to raise awareness about sickle cell disease after he fully recovered. He said: “I want people living with sickle cell to feel safe, to feel like they have help and support. Lagos arraigns man for assaulting firefighter

By  Johnson Idowu The Lagos State Fire Service has said it had begun legal actions against one Waheed Balogun for assaulting an officer of the agency who was on duty in the Ikotun area of Lagos State. The Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Ololade Agboola, disclosed this in a statement made available to MEDIA on Tuesday. Agboola stated that the suspect was arraigned before Magistrate A.A. Adesanya of a Special Offences (Mobile) Court sitting in the Oshodi area of the state.
